The acquisition of traffic is often regarded as the basis of a strategy of Inbound Marketing. The more visitors you will have on your website, the more you will be able to convert some into leads, and you can then exploit to turn them into customers. In a previous article, I had lingered to explain how we were taken there to direct traffic our first visit source on the digital marketing blog Marketing. I noticed that we otherwise well also increased regarding our organic traffic.

Increase organic traffic:

Capture screen above is from the Google Analytic Marketing and shows the curve of our organic traffic. In July 2013, we harvested 548 visits from search engines. As of January 2014, this figure had risen to 1693 (more than triple) and continues to grow week after week. The technique of digital marketing that we used to arrive at these results is not secret, we apply also for all our customers who want to start their business or generate more traffic to their website. You want to also give a boost to your traffic curve? Already 8 Avoid SEO mistakes that penalize your website and follow the steps of our technique that continues to prove:

1. Determine your list of keywords

Before you jump headlong into battle, the most important thing to do is put yourself in the shoes of your customer. What it looks exactly? What are the applications it will use to search for products / services similar to yours? Each of the answers to these questions will reveal key words you should position yourself. Then feel free to take a look at your direct competitors. Which keywords are they are positioned them? And above all, is that it allows them to generate a lot of traffic? SEMRush tools like Open Site Explorer and are very useful in this case.

Once your keywords list established, it will now have that you assess whether each is worth some attention to it. To do this, use the Google keywords planning tool to find the most interesting keywords, that is, those with a fairly substantial amount of research while being less competitive as possible (see our article on the strategy of the long tail on this). Everything here depends on the strategy that you choose (and especially the resources at your disposal) but keep in mind that you must choose keywords for which you think you can position yourself high in the search engines. It is sometimes more interesting to be the big fish in the small pond than a small fish in the ocean.

2. Build your website around these keywords

At this point, you have identified all keywords likely to bring you the interesting traffic for which you are willing to overcome the competition. Now you need to go to the second step: optimize your website for the chosen keywords.

    If you do not yet have a website, if possible, try to place your most relevant keywords in the URL;
    Think of each page of your website as being oriented around one or two keywords and place them wisely in your titles, subtitles and page descriptions (do not want to do too much, over optimization Keyword -or keyword stuffing- is a practice sanctioned by Google Never prefer search engines at the expense of your readers)..;
    For keywords that you think are really important to your business (those that differentiate you from your competitors, for example, or are your core business), consider the optimized around a dedicated landing page with a specific content (eg white paper).

3. Engage in a long-term digital strategy

Now that your website is optimized around your strategic keywords, we have to beat the competition by making your business to appear as high as possible in the Google results pages. To do this, it is important to generate back-links (links from external sites that are recognized by search engines to determine the relevance of your site):

    Create a business blog and write articles regularly optimized around your keywords. Again, do not look too pleasing the search engines but rather concentrate on your target audience: writing content that sets you apart from the competition, that interests your target audience and that makes them want to know more on your business. By writing quality articles, you ensure more visibility, sharing on social networks and commitment, which are all criteria considered by Google to solidify your listing

    Depending on the policy you want to deploy, there are other ways to generate backlinks: guest blogging, enrollment in specialized directories, press releases, work on community sites or other blogs, etc.
